Summer's in full swing now and Legend Surfboards is living up to its' potential. I've trained in 3 new apprentices in the glass room, sanding room, and art room respectively and they are really living up to the challenge. Making surboards is not an easy thing to do and it doesn't pay well either. You have to love what your doing and I've found three hard working dedicated individuals to do the other steps to leave me more time in the shaping bay. See you in the water. Jim

On March 4, 2005 one year ago today, my grandfather died of cancer. His death has left a gaping hole in my life and the lives of my family and his friends. He taught my brother, our cousin and myself the building trade since we could crawl. My brother is in the Carpenters Union, our cousin frames houses and I build surfboards. He said to a friend of mine that he thought I would have been the carpenter... It was his influence that gave me the skills to even pick up a planer. He had the back of an Ox from manual labor his whole life. He drank all my life stating that New Year's Eve and St. Patrick's Day were amateur nights. He would have you doubled over with his humor or slay you in a battle of wit. 99% of the the people that met him loved him and fuck the naysayers. He died while I was in Ireland. I got to spend alot of time with him the last year between me going to the states for the Summer and Christmas and my sister Mary bringing him to Bundoran in November for a week.I think about all the stories he told me and all the times we had together. I think about him everyday... They don't make em like that anymore!
